ETHAN'S PRIDECelebration and jubiliation! In Ethan's Pride, it tells the story of Ethan Quinn as he celebrates his World title win along with his good friends and regales the audience with tales of his conquest!
_____ The show returns from break, and Terrance Bischoff is standing in the ring, wearing a nice suit. Surrounding him are the PRL Cheerleaders, who are also decked out in long, flowing wide robes to make them look like female servants of some sort of ancient deity. Each of them, hold some sort of offering in their hands. The most prominent is a girl in the center who holds a big hulking championship in her hand. It looks like it rather heavy, weighing at least ten pounds. The gold of the title is studded with diamonds which reflect brilliantly in the light of the arena. Also, in the ring, are four statues, which at first blush, appear to be some sort of ancient gods. There is also one other statue there, a much larger statue, with a sheet covering it, obviously to be revealed later in the evening. Terrance Bischoff takes the microphone and begins speaking. Bischoff: Hello, PRL! (The crowd boos.) I am here tonight, not for me, oh no, not this time. (More boos.) No, tonight, is a night for celebration. It’s a night for us to celebrate the dawning of a new PRL era! Of course, I wanted to do something special for the evening, so tonight, we will party like it’s 20 AD! (The crowd cheers.) Minus the orgies, of course. This is a family show! So, now, if you would, please, join with me in welcoming the NEW PRL World Champion… ETHAN QUINN! (With that, the camera shot goes to the aisle, where Ethan Quinn is coming out to the ring.) He’s wearing his finest suit, topped off with a striking green tie, as a nod to Dartmouth University, his alma mater. Around both arms are two beautiful women, both dressed to the nines. The crowd is going wild, and loud music is blaring, but that doesn’t distract them from Ethan, their eyes never stopping to look at anything but him. Celebratory music is blaring to celebrate his coming out to the ring. A red carpet has been laid out for the celebration. Photographers stop near him, and start flashing photos so that they can capture the moment on film for all to remember for perpetuity. Ethan takes awhile to look around, and take in the moment, he’s earned it. This is his moment, his pride and joy, and it would only be right to celebrate it. He walks with a modicum of pride, but not too much. A man as well-versed as he knows that great pride comes before a great fall. He is stopped by an attendant as he nears the ring. The attendant is with two other, equally beautiful women, as Ethan gives his women to the attendant, before standing arm in arm with the two new women and entering the ring. While inside the ring, Bischoff and the ladies clap for him and Bischoff even does some bowing. Confetti falls from the ceiling, and covers everything in the ring. Ethan smiles at all this fanfare. He knows he’s just reached the pinnacle of professional wrestling, and he knows he wants to stay there for awhile. Ethan: (somewhat broken up.) Thank you. (In preparation for the title ceremony, the PRL cheerleaders present Ethan with various gifts from fine wines to expensive jewelry to even a ceremonial sword, adorned with rubies. Ethan takes particular interest in the sword, and swings it a few times, liking how it feels. He looks around, and sees the statues, and something about them makes him smile. He knows where he wants to start now.) Ethan: You know, Terrance, I am something of a history buff as you know. I particularly like ancient mythology, and, more specifically, the 12 labors of Hercules. I am sure you’re familiar with that. (Bischoff nods in agreement.) Ethan: You see, I feel that much like Hercules, I, too, performed several labors to become the man I am the today, the Champion I see before you. Unlike Hercules, I wasn’t doing it to atone for my sins, no, the 5 labors of Ethan Quinn were to achieve one thing and one thing only….greatness. Sure, I had done a lot before, won many titles, slain many foes, but that was kid’s stuff, mere fluff compared to what you, King Terrance, presented before me as what you felt that I, Ethan Quinn, nay, the mighty Ethan Quinn, if he wanted to reach the promised land, the pinnacle of this wrestling industry, and become the PRL Champion of the World! The crowd cheers at this, as Ethan continues soaking in the moment before going over to the first statue, a large statue of a lion. It seems proud and fierce, the scars of many battles show on it’s body. Ethan looks at it, and holds his sword with pride to it, as if to show he has slain it.) Ethan: The first test you gave me if I wanted to reach my goal was to slay a lion, more accurately King Butcher. He is a fierce competitor, a man who will give everything he has in every match. He is a proud man, one who will attack you like a lion stalking its prey. He is relentless, brutal, unforgiving, and he badly wanted to take the PRL Title and make his own, but he was facing me. I may not be like Hercules, someone who could take down a lion with mere strength, but I am a strong man and a very, very smart man. In the end, I was able to use my intelligent to fall this lion, this King Butcher, and bring him to heel. In the beginning, he was wild, untamed, and, in the end, he had capitulated to me, the glorious Ethan Quinn! Bischoff and the girls clap for Ethan, as he goes over to the second statue. One of the phoenix. Ethan: I brought the hide of King Butcher to you, Terrance Bischoff, and you were decidedly unimpressed. You said that defeating was nice, but a lot of people have done it before. It was a “nice start” but not what was going to get me into the promised land, to win me the goal. You told me to go out there, find a phoenix, and slay him, then, maybe, I could become the PRL Championship. So, I went out there, and found the biggest, most successful phoenix I could find, Eric Gravestone, a man who could fly around the ring like the nimblest bird and always has this nasty tendency of coming back to life! I walked right up to him and told him that I’m Ethan Quinn and he’s going down. He fought with all his might, but he couldn’t beat me. I reduced his hopes to ashes, and then presented them to you, King Terrance, but they weren’t good enough. Ethan walks over to the third statue, that of some sort of golem. Ethan: You thanked me, and said that, while that was nice and all, but that just isn’t championship material. No, you wanted me to take down some sort of rock, some sort of golem, who had been troubling you lately and then maybe I would be the champion! I decided that I was growing tired of his game. Sure, I’d like to think of every battle as epic that caused me to win by the skin of my teeth, but I took down a lion and a phoenix, and I am not going to let some golem get in the way of my path to the glory. I took my sword out, and screamed like banshee. I went right at Rocky Li who cowered in his boots as I slain him with relative ease. I picked him up, and presented you with all the rock you could ever need from this slain golem, but you just laughed. At that point, I was at my wit’s end. I walked right up to you, King Terrance, grabbed you by your shirt and said, “What do I have to do to become the Champion? I’m sick of these games!” You cowered, you looked uncomfortable, and said that the only two monsters that remained were the Fox and the Dragon. I laughed and said “Fine! I’ll take them BOTH on….right now!” You were flabbergasted. You thought I was insane. “No!” you cried out. You can’t outwit the fox AND slay the dragon at once!” To which I replied, “To hell I can’t!” It was then that I went out to that ring, and saw the Fox and Dragon already steeped in battle. It was then that I said, “Guys! Sorry to interrupt your little battle, but I am here to take you both down!” They couldn’t believe it! They scoffed at the thought, but, only minutes later, they weren’t laughing….they were defeated. So, now, thus, labors completed, it’s time for me to fully become the PRL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! Terrance: Well, a deal is a deal. With that, Ethan, I present to you, the PRL World Championship! The cheerleader with the title walks over to Ethan and bows on one knee, presenting him with the title. One of Ethan’s ladies takes the belt and puts it around Ethan’s waist. His smile is large, as the title is being clipped to him, knowing now that, while his last journey has ended, his newest one is just beginning. Terrance: And finally, a statue dedicated to PRL’s biggest hero, it’s mighty conqueror, Ethan Quinn! The sheet falls down, and it presents a statue of Ethan Quinn, dressed as an ancient Herculean hero. He looks confident and full of pride with a sword in one hand, and the title in the other. Under his feet are the fallen bodies of a lion, a phoenix, a golem, a fox, and a dragon. Wasting no time to get a photo op, Ethan releases the title from around his waist, and holds it up high. The photographers from earlier enter the ring, and snap photos of Ethan standing in front of his statue, with the two women behind his side. Confetti falls once again and celebratory music blares, while the celebration rolls on! |
